Standards are just a shared list of the skills kids work on at each age. Matching a printable to the right standard means you’re practicing exactly what your child is learning in school — no overlap, no gaps, no second-guessing whether it “counts.”
Common questions
Which framework do I need?
It depends on the subject. Reading and math in K–3 are Common Core. Science in K–3 is NGSS. Preschool across all areas is Head Start ELOF. If you’re not sure, your child’s teacher or school newsletter usually names the one they follow.
What exactly is a standard?
A standard is one small, specific skill — like “write numbers 0–20” — that kids are expected to reach at a certain grade. Each one has a short code so you can match a resource to it precisely.
Do I have to follow these to use the printables?
Not at all. The standards are just a helpful map for finding the right skill. Every printable works just as well for play, review, or filling a gap — whether or not you care about the codes.
